This is our 5th year, we meet in the town monthly or have an excursion. So far this year we have been entertained by Madam Zola; Mrs Hardwick transported us from the winter gloom to South Amerca and we heard of the work done by and for Deep Sea fishermen. Our visits have taken us to the National Stud at Newmarket; Burleigh House and gardens; A cruise along the Thames to Kew Gardens; The end of the Pier show at Cromer and the Terracotta Warrior Exhibition at the British Museum. To come we have a shopping trip to Peterborough and a Christmas Party. On an average we get 36 people at our events. Les ButtonChairman Posted By Mary Hills Secretary 28.10.2008
Here we are heading into the AGM and another programme . 2010 has been busy as usual with outings to Hampton Court, Felixstowe Spa Pavillion, Southend and shopping to Downtown and finishing with Christmas Lunch at the shepherd and dog in Nacton. The speakers gave us entertaining and thought provoking talks too starting with a remarkable lady in her 90's who told her experiences flying in the 2nd World War; we had Suffolk Accident and Rescue, Woodland Conservation; humorous memoirs of life in the Fire Service and the work of a vet and the British Legion organization. Our Kate has been busy again and has another varied programme for our entertainment in the coming months. We have welcomed several new colleagues during the last year; former JS employees are welcome to come along and also bring their spouse/partner or a friend to the meetings, if you haven't come along yet why not take the plunge and join us? you will get a war welcome. With more new members I think it is time for changes on the committee; I for one would like a rest after eight years as secretary and would be pleased if one of you would shadow me for a while before taking over. Don't be shy we are quite relaxed and friendly!Posted By Mary Hills Secretary 19.04 2011For more information about the Branch or the events contact the Secretary by email: bse@jsveast.co.uk
