Chairman's MessageDear Veterans,
After attendance at the JSV Eastern Region Annual Conference in September by members of the committee, the full committee decided at its meeting on 3rd November that we would change the way in which we produce the calendar for 2012. The annual grant which is kindly given to all the Veterans Local Associations is worth less each year, so the time has come to budget carefully. One of the ways is to issue our 2012 calendar through Central Office who will photocopy and post to all the members of JSV Mid-Essex Local Association for Chelmsford, Braintree and Brentwood. This, of course, means that every member of JSV Mid-Essex who is registered at Central Office will receive a copy of our official 2012 calendar, so apologies to those who have specifically asked not to receive mail from us.
As you will see from the layout of the calendar and information pages we have not included the booking forms, these have been produced and will be on our website to be downloaded if you have a computer. If you wish to go on the trips in 2012 the booking forms will be available at our regular meetings, the savings by doing this are enormous. Please take the time to make a note of our meetings. These take place the first Thursday in each month except August, December & January at The Quaker Meeting House, Rainsford Road, Chelmsford, Essex CM1 2QL, tea, coffee and biscuits are provided and we have booked a wide variety of Speakers for all our meetings in 2012. The Speakers have been chosen for their differing interests and your committee hope that you will enjoy attending all meetings throughout 2012.
Our AGM will take place on 5th April 2012 when the committee will stand for re-election together with any new members who wish to be nominated. This will be a very busy meeting as Penny Foulger will be demonstrating "Exercise to Music" ( in which everyone is encouraged to join in, but not compulsory) and has proved very popular in the past.
Once again our trips have been chosen for their wider interests and reasonable cost. They will be booked through Lodge Coaches, not least for their comfort and high standard of drivers and care during the trip. Lodge Coaches have not produced their summer brochure yet so it is not possible to give specific dates after the April trip on this calendar. Although they are in monthly slots, these could change in January or February as that is the projected date of their new 2012 calendar. However any changes will be confirmed to as many members as possible through the website and attendance at the monthly meetings, with booking forms supplied on request. Once again, I have to thank my committee for their dedication and hard work during 2011 and particularly David Avent our Treasurer who has kept us on the straight and narrow regarding our finances. During the last year we discovered a very comfortable meeting place at The Quaker Meeting Rooms with reasonable rates, and where the standard is always high and I am sure this will remain our meeting place for many years to come.
Finally, our Association looks forward to a great Year ahead and, hopefully, we will continue to grow and grow.
