![Chairman's Message]()
Chairman's MessageI would like to thank all the Committee for their support and hard work last year in arranging the luncheons, holidays, outings, and theatre trips. Two Luncheons have already been arranged for 2011 also London theatre trips and a holiday in April to Bournemouth. Two day trips have been booked for Windsor and Buckingham Palace, and various speakers have also been booked for the monthly meetings which are held every third Friday a month. Any new member interested in joining us will be warmly welcomed. Many thanks again to the committee for their time and hard work in arranging such a varied programme. Margaret Belsham. Chairman Southend & District.
Secretary The Southend & District group have enjoyed another successful year, with a Winter and Summer Luncheon and several Speakers covering many subjects, also theatre trips and quizzes Two Holidays were enjoyed by our members firstly to Yorkshire for five days in April, then a weeks holiday to Torquay also day trips to The Bluebell Line, Chartwell, Hampton Court, and of course the Annual Veterans Reunion at Stoke by Nayland. At the April Meeting we celebrated our fifth Anniversary where members were given a £5.00 JS Voucher, a Birthday Cake was also enjoyed. In July we were shocked at the sudden passing of our Chairman Chris Garnier, which needed a Committee reshuffle. We now hold a Quiz in Chriss Name where the winning team receive a medal and a plaque. We celebrated Christmas with a Country and Western Band when one of our oldest members was the first person up dancing, and with the addition of a substantial Finger Buffet the afternoon was enjoyed by all. We are now looking forward to a Holiday in Bournemouth, day trips to Windsor and Buckingham Palace, and of course the Veterans Reunion. Published by David Chalkley Secretary 28.02.2011
